Lillet The company was founded in 1872 by brothers Paul and Raymond Lille in a small village called Podansak, in the south of Bordeaux. Brothers Lille were very successful entrepreneurs – produced about 150 items of alcohol (most of whom were seasonal), prepared syrups, jams and soft drinks. They also engaged in the sale of various goods that are brought from the Caribbean.

Aperitif Lillet was first produced in 1887 and presented as a tonic to maintain health, because it consists of quinine, very popular at the time. Quinine used to treat malaria and other diseases. Traditionally, all the products having in their composition quinine, was red. The brothers decided to make a “knight’s move” by producing a beverage on the basis of white wine. And it has paid off – an aperitif Lillet Blanc became very popular in Europe and North Africa, and later in America. Before 1970, the aperitif was called Kina Lillet.

In 1962 it began the production of Lillet Rouge , and the drink immediately won the hearts of lovers of red wines. In 1985, the formulation of drinks was slightly modified by reducing the amount of sugar, which allowed to achieve perfect balance in taste. Since then and to this day the prescription is no longer undergo any changes.
In 1995, Lillet brand won the gold medal at the International Wine Competition, and in 1999 became one of the 100 best-selling brands in France.

Until 2011, there were only two kinds of aperitif – white and red, but since 2011 the company launched a new product – Lillet Rose is , which immediately gained popularity among women. In the production of all three types of used beverage Peruvian quinine, sweet oranges from Spain and Morocco, bitter oranges from Haiti. The basis acts wine with a neutral taste, and make up 10 liqueurs – only fruit. All the ingredients are mixed with alcohol and matured in oak barrels.

Lillet aperitif can be used as a standalone drink, pre-cooled to a temperature of 6-8 ° C. They also are part of many famous cocktails.
